I have been using the tripod as per link above. It was a good companion for a couple of trips - survived through many falls during bike ride to Ladakh, kept my back straight during Goechala treks and many more smallish trips and treks.
But this month, on a chilly morning near Snowline cafe (a few hrs ahead of Triund), it said goodbye. One of the arms cracked, yeps, cracked!

So, now I am looking for a new, and...

Current status of Manali - Leh Highway: Closed Rohtang Jot reopened for local taxis.

BRO has started snow clearing operations on the Manali - Leh Highway, while Rohtang Pass is expected to reopen by March end, Manali - Leh Highway would likely be restored for vehicular traffic by May end.

Hi everyone, i had an opportunity to travel in a Volvo B9R (Multi Axle) from Chennai to Trivandrum last week and i bet this was easily the best of all buses.

While travelling, in noticed that no other bus dared to challenge this monster machine.

I could see all the other vehicles except some faster cars stepped aside to leave way for this bus.

Coming to interior, it was great. The ride was so smooth even when the driver hit 120 in speedo, the seat and leg space were so comfortable...

Hi All,

I last visited Shri Hemkund Sahib in October 2012. Then there were plans to visit in 2013 again but, the natural calamity caused during that year, ruined the plans for 2013. And in 2014 because family and friends were not up due the news about bad roads and weather conditions.

This year I chit chatted with frnds&family but, none were up due to their own busy schedules and it seems to me that there are no possibilities for me to go to the darshans if I wait for others to join in....

One of my friend wishes to travel to Kashmir with his family. Would be a 12 day trip ex Delhi with a visit to Amritsar. Also, since he's travelling with family wishes to stick with NH1 while going and coming. Please suggest an itinerary plan for the same. I am planning to go Chopta-Tungnath and Chandrashila top in the middle of May.
I did some homework and following are my findings:

1. Will the gates of the temple be open at that time? Can someone confirm the exact dates for trusted sources. I've heard that the gates will be open from 9th May, please confirm?
